Great place to stay

August 2024

Overall

Loved this spacious cabin! Very private and very clean. The beds are very comfortable. Plenty of room and several areas around the house for some "alone" time, if needed. The decks are big and a lovely way to have a quiet cup of coffee listening to the birds or the breeze rustle the trees. Sitting on the rocking chair in front of the cabin was probably my favorite. It was nice hearing the farm animals in the early morning. We took a walk to the dock down the road- about a mile walk. We were able to rent kayaks there and that was just an awesome time. We went during the week so we had the lake almost completely to ourselves. We paddled to Fancher Falls, which was beautiful. Another day, we rented a pontoon from Edgar Evins and that was fabulous, as well. The cabin itself had everything you could need. You just need to bring your own coffee, food, and spices if you're cooking. It does only have one bathroom, but it worked out completely fine for four of us adults. Just DO NOT lock the doorknob. Only use the coded lock. I locked myself out! Thankfully everyone else was still sleeping inside the house so I was able to get someone to let me in. . The town of Cookeville is not too far of a drive for groceries, restaurants, etc. We would come back and stay here again.

We absolutely loved our stay at Hyland woods!!

We absolutely loved our stay at Hyland woods!! A couple, their dog and a family of 5 all under 8 years fit comfortably. The cabin was kid friendly, safe, clean and stocked full of toys and board games for all. The house is fully stocked with everything you would need. The location is ideal if you have your own boat or are renting one from the dock. We loved the open space for the kids to run around and the neat barn to explore. The binder providing information of the area and photos of the cabin prior to renovations was great! Lots of great memories were made here and we will come back!!

Beautiful Cabin in Baxter

July 2022

We absolutely loved our stay at this amazing cabin! It felt secluded but still close to the interstate. You can tell the cabin is cared for because it was spotless when we arrived. The only thing we would have liked the cabin to have would be curtains in the downstairs bedroom. There wasn't any privacy due to that. Other than that one thing, our stay was perfect. I highly recommend!

We had a wonderful family reunion

We had a wonderful family reunion and the place was absolutely Perfect, and with two dogs Setting was perfect and everything inside the chalet was both decorated extremely fashionable and Equipped with all needed practical household items. Only drawback was the one bathroom. Even a outhouse and out door shower would be a plus. Plenty of room and privacy . Loved it a real Gem. Thank-You!

Beautiful Cabin in the Woods!

We absolutely loved this Cabin! The kitchen is phenomenal. The pictures in the listing really don't do this place justice. There's a room designated just for dogs that is perfect and we instantly regretted not bringing our dog with us but, will next time because we will definitely be back again soon! We had plenty of Hot water and the bathroom is large. The only thing that we didn't care for was the Clawfoot tub/shower. A walk-in shower would actually make that Cabin completely Perfect! My husband stated multiple times during our stay, that he wanted to buy that house! That's no somehting he says often!

We enjoyed the cabin, the atmosphere, and the state park near by! Perfect place to get some peace and quite and spend some time with family. Wish we could have stayed longer! The porches and sun rooms where my favorite rooms. I'd say the bathroom rugs need to be replaced but all and all it was a wonderful stay. Had everything we needed for what we wanted to do while we enjoyed our stay in the beautiful state of Tennessee. Thanks for hosting! Would definitely recommend to a friend.

Pioneer cabin for the modern family with pets

August 2021

Overall

I've never stayed in a cabin built using materials from the 1800's, so I didn't know what to expect. However, we were pleasantly surprised to see that the cabin is exactly as shown in the listing photos! Athough it looks quite "rustic" it has the comfort and feel of any high-quality modern home with nearly all the amenities you'd expect. The only thing missing was a dishwasher but the kitchen sink layout is well suited for hand washing dishes. The kitchen is the well appointed with all the utensils and things you'll need to prepare great meals. The combo "microwave/air fryer/roaster" will come in handy when reheating those meals. We made baked potatoes in it which were so delicious - no soggy microwave food here! The Wi-Fi is fast, I had several Zoom meetings with no buffering or freezing. There is a TV in the dining room area, which has Netflix and all streaming services, however we never used it. Instead, we spent our time exploring the areas natural resources and attractions. Burgess Falls and Cummins Falls state parks are each within a 20-minute drive. Also historic downtown Cookeville is a great place to go for dinner and drinks. We didn't want to leave this beautiful cabin oasis when it was time to go! But the hosts have made checkout easy - you don't have to deal with removing linens and putting towels in the laundry. Just take out the trash and you're out the door! Whether you're on a staycation weekend from Nashville or an international tourist, this property is the best accommodation the Cookeville area has to offer in terms of value, comfort and location.

Quiet, Relaxing Seclusion

May 2021

Great property! Love the history of the cabin. We enjoyed the quiet and not being super close to another rental (common with other rentals). We had a boat with us and this property was really convenient given the circular driveway and area to park the boat. We weren't expecting all of this and it was a great surprise. The Cookeville Boat ramp was not busy at all when we launched Thursday evening. We were in pretty quickly and we didn't have to wait long to take out. We had a pretty hard rain storm and the roof started leaking, but this wasn't over any sleeping areas and "Rick" was quick to try to fix it - including climbing on the roof by himself to do so! Thanks for the wonderful stay, we would recommend this property.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hyland Woods. It provided us with a comfortable, well-appointed and tastefully decorated log home that had a rich history and stories to tell. In addition, Hyland Woods served as an ideal base as we explored some of Tennessee's most beautiful state parks. Cummins Falls, Burgess Falls, and Rock Island supplied us with some much needed nature therapy. The hiking, waterfalls, and spring flowers were all spectacular. At Hyland Woods, we enjoyed watching a wild turkey hen visit on a couple of occasions, listening to beautiful bird calls from the woods behind the house, sitting and listening to the quiet, and enjoying a delicious catfish dinner at the Lighthouse at the Cookeville Boat Dock less than 2 miles from the house. Hyland Woods provided us with a wonderful and much-needed getaway!

This all sounds perfect, Chuck. Thank you so much for sharing this with us all!

We will happily help you guys to vacation again, and more often! Let us know when you are ready.

This is the perfect home to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The cabin is solid and cozy and gives a sense of home as soon as you walk in. The way it is laid out, makes you feel like you've stepped back in time. There is a central gathering place for the family that comprises kitchen, a big dining table (with Smart TV) and a convenient and vital coffee/tea station. There is no dishwasher, but it fits with the whole vibe of the cabin and the sinks (three sinks with garbage disposal in the middle!) make for an easy clean up, where everyone can pitch in. The beds are very comfortable and the cabin seems perfect for a small family to enjoy. The back decks are beautiful and face a huge forest where sometimes some deer appear during the quiet morning hours. The word "quiet" cannot be repeated enough. It is truly a haven for relaxation with only at times a friendly "moo" from a cow in a far away field. You can tell that the home is loved and cared for in its details for smaller children (with a special reading/play corner) and lots of games that can be enjoyed together on the big dining/game table. There is also a snug dog bed, food bowl and some toys, reserved for the four legged family friend, should you decide to bring them along. The area is breathtaking and the Marina is so close and perfect to enjoy at sunset. There is also a delightful front porch with a fire pit in case you would like to make some s’mores! (The management is great and very sensitive to ensuring that the guests are happy. They are also attentive, thoughtful and extremely caring. I highly recommend this property.
